Our roots

A family tradition of giving

Team Peace didn't start with a business plan. It grew out of a family of farmers, social workers, gardeners and educators, and who believed you give what you can, wherever you are.

The farmers

Both of Thom's grandfathers were farmers. The idea Team Peace lives by comes from them: plant something, look after it, and share what grows.

The social workers

Both of his grandmothers were social workers, who spent their working lives helping families through hard times.

The gardeners

His parents kept the family's love of growing things alive as gardeners, and passed it on.

The teacher and superintendent

His mother's father, Joseph Tyree, farmed and taught science, then went on to lead a school system, retiring as its superintendent.

Thom in Tokyo

Thom Peace has lived in Tokyo since 2004 and works across education, entrepreneurship and cross-cultural collaboration. He has been active in the startup community through Founder Institute Japan and Venture Café Tokyo, and runs incubator and consulting services in Omotesando. Team Peace is where that experience is given away freely.
